A celebration of outstanding young talent from at home and abroad, Toronto Downtown Jazz each year brings together three groups, featuring emerging jazz artists from around the country and around the world, for two days of music, mentorship and fun. Day one, hosted by Youth Jazz Canada at Humber College, includes rehearsals, jam sessions and shared musical experiences; the Youth Jazz Showcase culminates on day two with a performance by all three groups.
The 2017 Youth Jazz Showcase features the National Youth Jazz Combo (Canada), the Jason Palmer Berklee Septet under the direction of Jason Palmer (from Berklee College in Boston) and, from Israel, Canaan - a combo from Thelma Yellin School of the Arts under the direction of Yossi Regev. The final Showcase concert is Saturday, July 1, 12-3 pm at The Rex Hotel. Complete details are available here.
