Highlighting outstanding contributions to the Toronto jazz scene by local artists, we're pleased to announce the four projects chosen for support through the TD Discovery Series Special Projects initiative: guitarist and composer Harley Card’s Sunset Ensemble; the Heavyweights Brass Band as they celebrate the release of their new CD, This City; new and previously unrecorded works from pianist Adrean Farrugia with saxophonist Joel Frahm for their new release, Blued Dharma; and The Smith Sessions Presents: Bitches Brew, Curated by Aline Homzy which showcases four women-improviser led groups.
The Aretha Franklin concert originally scheduled for July 1, 2017 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts has, unfortunately, been postponed. As per doctor’s orders, Aretha Franklin cannot make the trip to Toronto this week. However, we are pleased to announce that she will perform at the 2018 TD Toronto Jazz Festival on June 28, 2018. Ticketholders that purchased through Ticketmaster or through the Sony Centre Box Office will be contacted and will have the option of keeping their tickets and using them for the new date, or will receive a full refund of their ticket order.
Congratulations to Pat LaCroix and Ted O'Reilly on the publication of a exquisite collection of photos of local jazz luminaries with expert commentary by Ted O'Reilly. Toronto Jazz Treasures was the brainchild of Pat's late wife Naomi Patricia. She conceived it, named it and brought it to life. It is a celebration of the fantastic Jazz musicians who live, perform and teach the beautiful art of Jazz music in Toronto. The book consists of 100 black and white portraits Pat made of these musicians and the histories of their careers, beautifully written by Ted O'Reilly.

TORONTO – From a vocal powerhouse to a piano virtuoso, a jazz supergroup to one of the newly minted stars in jazz, the TD Toronto Jazz Festival announces its first round of artists when it runs this summer from June 23 – July 2, 2017. Headliners confirmed to appear include, Joss Stone, Mavis Staples, Hiromi featuring Edmar Castañeda, Gregory Porter and Hudson. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 1.
