So Long Seven presents a concert which takes the listener on a journey to the origins of jazz and blues in West Africa. For this unique presentation, the ensemble will be joined by master percussionist Amara Kante in a celebration of the diverse cultures that exist in Toronto and an acknowledgement of the influences of West African music on contemporary music.
So Long Seven masterfully blends genres such as jazz, classical, world and folk to create richly textured acoustic music. So Long Seven consists of Neil Hendry (guitar/mandolin), William Lamoureux (violin/voice), Ravi Naimpally (tabla/percussion) and Tim Posgate (banjo), together they are creating a seamless tapestry of sound through their original music. Influenced by bands such as Punch Brothers, Shakti, Oregon and many others the band is breaking new ground.
