Fred Frith

In a career spanning more than 40 years, Fred Frith has followed a unique trajectory that manages to intersect with folk, blues, experimental rock, film soundtracks, dance scores, radio plays, theatre music, and contemporary composition. Along the way he has performed with most of the leading improvisers, without ever falling into the trap of viewing improvisation as a genre of music.

Eric Boeren Quartet

The Eric Boeren 4tet’s repertoire comprises original compositions from Eric Boeren and the early quartet music of Ornette Coleman. Boeren’s compositions are deeply rooted in the jazz and blues tradition and are characterized by strong, often jumpy melodies and unusual keys. All four musicians share the improvisational space equally, imbuing the music with energy. Much of it seems to happen by chance, a little is well planned. The more you listen the more irrelevant the distinction becomes.

Eric Boeren, cornet
Michael Moore, alto sax, clarinet
Wilbert de Joode, double bass
