Jeremy Ledbetter Trio
Forged in a cauldron of raging, inspiring contemporary jazz, the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio pushes the boundaries of jazz and world music, providing an undiluted display of rampaging energy and captivating musicianship. Audiences must exercise caution. People who see this band are rarely the same again. If the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio were an inanimate object it would be a runaway train.
The Cosmodemonic Brass Band
The Cosmodemonic Brass Band is made up of some of Toronto's hottest young players. Drawing on the fire and grit of a NOLA street band, they throw their weight into roots classics and modern hits. Featuring Tom Richards of the Heavyweights Brass Band and members of the T Dot Bangerz, this band is not to be missed!
Nathan Beja's Viper's Cloud
Viper’s Cloud is a Toronto based Gypsy Jazz collective curating traditional Eastern European music, 1940’s hot jazz and swing music in the style of Django Reinhardt. The group ranges from a guitar/violin duo arrangement all the way up to an 8 piece band expanding to include clarinet, saxophone, double bass, manouche guitars and trumpet.
Ernesto Cervini's Tetrahedron
Tetrahedron is the new chordless trio led by Ernesto Cervini. Featuring two of Canada’s finest improvisers, Luis Deniz on Alto Saxophone and Rich Brown on Electric Bass, the band plays originals from all three musicians as well as funky arrangements of standards. It’s a groovy, energetic trip! The group has been performing extensively around southern Ontario for the past 4 years, and will be recording their debut album in April of 2019, with special guest, guitarist Nir Felder from NYC.
Moodset is a jazz and R&B collaborative project comprised of Alexa Belgrave on keys, Jacqueline Teh on vocals, Madeleine Ertel on trumpet, Caleb Klager on bass, and Mackenzie Read on drums. All are students or alumni of the University of Toronto Jazz Performance program. They have hosted Jazz and R&B jams around Toronto, which have fostered a sense of community among jazz and pop/R&B musicians, and have performed at various venues in Toronto such as Yauca’s Lounge and Alchemy Food & Drink.

The Jazz Musician Intensive Ensemble 2018
The Jazz Musician Intensive (JMI) Ensemble is made up of students from the four main post-secondary jazz programs in the Greater Toronto Area: University of Toronto, Humber College, York University and Mohawk College. Two students were selected by faculty members from each school to make up the eight-member ensemble. Under the direction of JUNO Award winning bassist and composer Mike Downes, the JMI Ensemble will rehearse daily during the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, preparing jazz standards and original compositions for this performance. The Sunset Ensemble is a new initiative by Harley Card and David French, the leader/guitarist and saxophonist from Harley’s long standing quintet.
Rick Shadrach Lazar & Montuno Police
Six accomplished musicians playing original instrumental compositions, combining wicked grooves and creative interplay. We mix the harmonic and improvisational traditions of North American Jazz with the rhythmic influences of Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Arabic music. The result is an aural explosion of global grooves taking the ear in new and riveting musical directions.
